Moment in History....and My Obsession!

So as everyone knows, today was a day in history where Prince William of England married the lovely Kate Middleton....and can I just say what one lucky girl! She got the perfect fairytale wedding! And being the person I am.......naturally I woke up at 4am to watch the ceremony. Yes, I could have watched it later on Fancast, but where is the fun and excitement in that. And beyond that I have this strange wedding obsession so I just had to watch it live!!!!

Looking back on it, I think I kind of figured out where my wedding obsession started.

Yes, that is right. It started with Prince Charles and Princess Diana. Now I sure you are thinking, "Kristen, weren't alive. How could you have possibly started there?" Well here it is. I remember being little and my mom telling me about how she remember waking up at 4am in the morning and sneaking into her living room to watch this royal wedding. So naturally I search to see what they big hype was and found out. The idea of a 25 foot train fascinated me!!! Now whether this is really what started my obsession I will never know, but I can tell you it did help.

Well years later, here I am! I am wedding obsessed and just couldn't wait for this one! I saw the announcement of the engagement on yahoo.com and my first thought was the ring...WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?!?!?! Well here it is. It was actually Diana's ring to start with. A large sapphire surrounded by 18 diamonds!!!! AMAZING!!!!!

Then from ring we went to engagement photos....which I love!

Then from the engagement photo we went to the wedding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so excited to see what Kate's dress looked like and who designed it. It floors me that they were able to keep both of those things a secret for so long!!!

Here dress, which was amazing, was designed by Sarah Burton, the creative director of Alexander Mcqueen...who is one of my favorite designers! I totally called the lace. Even though she is young, she is still in her late 20's and for how elegant and poised she is, I KNEW that there would for sure be lace. Her dress had a 9 foot train, diamond earring given to her by her parents, and the tiara she wore was the same one Queen Elizabeth wore. She looked amazing!!!!

Here are just a few other pics I really loved!

This is Pippa, Kate's sister, who I thought looked gorgeous. I loved that they also put her in white as well and the dress fit her form perfectly. The only thing I wasn't sold on was the neck line. I thought it was very sexy, however maybe just an inch or so too low for a royal wedding.

I just really liked these two pictures!

I LOVE this pic. See the thing is in the Abbey you aren't allowed to "kiss the bride," so tradition has it that the happy couple goes to Buckingham Palace and they stand out on the balcony and kiss there!

The whole thing is just so.......FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!! I really do love wedding stuff too much, I'll admit it. What kills me is that, according to the TLC show I was watching last night, this wedding cost about $20 million. I just cant even imagine that! I don't know how I managed to get into something that is so costly haha.

So there is my royal wedding update! It really was quite the experience to watch and I really glad I got up early to watch it! To see two people so happy was really cool. I don't know them or anything, but I love that even though this world is pretty much going to crap, that for a few hours over 2 billion people all over the globe were able just to sit down and watch and enjoy such a happy thing. I just LOVE it! It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Well there is this evenings wedding news! Hope I was able to enlighten somebody's day with a little wedding bliss......TOOTLES!!!!!!!!

Catch Up!!!!

Alrighty....so it has been a while since I have last blogged, so I thought I would hit some major points about what has been going on in the past little while!

First up......the Magic Flute!!!!!! This is one of my most favorite operas EVER!!!!!!! And lucky for me, the USU opera company and USU symphony orchestra are putting on the magic flute this week!!!!!! I went with one of my best friends, Lauren, and we had a great time! Mozart is a musical genius! I forgot how much I loved that opera! The cast and symphony did such an amazing job! The opera is all about love and cuteness and finding true love, its hysterical, and the only death that occurs is that of the bad guy so its so good. It was so good!

Second thing that happend.....my Momma got married!!!!!! It was such a great wedding! Her and Gary looked so cute and super happy and all the family was in town and it was just fabulous!!! I am so happy for my little mom. Her and Gary are perfect for each other and they deserve each other so much! Gary is a great guy and I know they will be super duper happy with each other!

There are a lot more pictures to come, but here is just a couple that I really liked. Once I get ones of all the four kids and then a few more, I will post them!

Third thing that has happpened........you are now looking at the new Student Alumni Association Executive Board HISTORIAN!!!!!!!!!!! I am sooooooo beyond excited!!!!!!!!! I just applied thinking it would be a fun thing to do, but not really a big deal if I didn't get it. In all honesty, I really had forgotten that we were suppose to find out this week, but I was just sitting in sewing today, cutting out my pattern and I got the call. Craig, the head honcho over everything, called me up and wanted to make sure I was still up for accepting the position before they announced it officially at the SAA 90's party tonight!!!!! I am sooooo excited!!!! I get to work with 12 other people, plan things for SAA, be involved on campus, and since I am historian, I get to take pictures all. the. TIME!!!!! I cant wait for next year!

Well that is about the extent of it around here. Nothing much else going on. I cant believe that my freshman year of college is almost over. I have had a ton to do lately and I am crunching hard before the end of the semester. I've got projects, group projects, sewing projects, homework, recitals, concerts, studying and more studying and .......more studying. A full schedule for sure, but I am strangely loving it. Well not else much to report on so I think I am going to head for now........TOOTLES!!!!!!!
