Day 90: Power of Baptisms

Ya know....today started out pretty crappy. I didnt want to get up or do anything and I was onre, but then I got into AP Theory and my friend Matt was such in a great mood that he shared with me and I was happy! I love how peoples moods or attitudes can rub off on you, it is kinda weird, but very nice at the same time cuz then you can go from sad to happy, discouraged to confident and many other things!
As for tonight.....AWESOME!!! For YWS tonight we went and did baptisms at the Draper Temple which rocked cuz I havent done baptisms there yet! I went with 4 of my cute little beehives and 3 of my leaders and we had a great time! It was so cool seeing all my little beehives get baptized and seeing the smile on their faces the whole time we were in there! I also loved seeing the smile on the leaders face! I would not trade anything in the world for times like that! The ultimate feeling of peace, satisfaction, warmth, and love is something that I would never ever being willing to give up! After seeing all those girls tonight, there is no doubt in my mind that the church isnt true....how could it not be true?!?!?!? When you step into the temple and just feel that atmosphere, there is no way to deny it! After being in seminary and young womens I know for the fact that the church is true, but I think sometimes I forget it, but it is nights like tonight that I remember that it is true and I remember that what I am doing has a purpose and that I am where I need to be! The temple is an amazing place and I really need to get back into the habit of going more often because it makes me remember so many things about the gospel that, sometimes, I think we all forget! It is just so cool and I cannot even describe the feeling to you of seeing how happy those girls were tonight and seeing in their eyes that they are also making the right decisions!!!!!! I love all my young women and young women leaders too death and thank you for all the many things each of you has taught me!!!! I love you guys to death!!!!!!
Well now that I have had my heart felt moment for the night, I think I am going to call it a night.......TOOTLES!!!!

Day 89: Committee!

It has been a good day! I got to go to this institute meeting things today which was really fun.
Every year the Jordan Institute does what the call an "I" Day and it is a day where they hold dinner, a dance and an activity in between, for seniors from the surrounding schools so that we can make a transition into institute from seminary. Well each school (West Jordan, Copper Hills, Riverton, Bingham and Itineris) puts together a committee and then each committee is put in charge of part of the whole "I" Day thing! Well lucky me.......Bro. Hancuff choose me to be on the committee with three other awesome seniors. To be honest, I was not really looking forward to it because I never attend these activities because they never do much for me......and then I found out that the West Jordan committee is in charge of the inbetween activity and that made me even less excited. Well I went to the meeting today and........I CAME HOME EXCITED! The other kids from the other schools are way nice and everyone is so willing to help each other and figure all the stuff out!!!! I really think this thing is going to turn out well......and the WJ committee decided that for our activity we are going to do.....drum roll please......speed dating! It sounds sooooo cheesy, but the more we started talking about it, I think it will work really well.......AND Riverton, Copper Hills and Bingham boys........DANG......There is NOTHING wrong with wanting to speed date that!!!!!! There must be something in the water around those schools cuz those boys are good looking......and a lot of them are tall!!!
Well I am exhausted, so I will up date you as this whole thing goes on! I am off to bed........TOOTLES!!!

Day 88: Goodbye....Hello

So after 32 months of being in a long, fulfilling, committed relationship......I finally said goodbye to my companion and welcomed a new one in to my life........I'd like you all to meet the Nokia Nuron.
I figured it was probably time for a new phone seeing as how I have had the same one for so long that it has gotten to the point where the screen will go all weird, I cant hear people on the other end of the line, it will freeze, it will randomly die and so many other things. I will miss my little lavender phone because she has been a good one, but it was time.....we both needed to let go and I am sure all of you who know me and my phone, probably know it is time for me to let go cuz she was slowly dying. The plus side to this new phone.......I got a SUPER SUPER SUPER deal on it!!!! WOOT WOOT!!!!
I now need to come up with a name for the nuron, but at this point I am just trying to figure out how to work her. She is slightly more complicated then I thought she would be. She honestly makes me feels about as smart as a toothpick. Every button you push, there are like a billion options for just that one alone. It is so confusing, but so exciting and so nice. Give me a couple days ......or possibly a couple weeks....and I will have her figured out in no time! Well as for now, I am going to go and try and figure out how to set a couple things on this phone before I head off to bed.........TOOTLES!!!!

Day 87: Sunday Afternoon

Today has been relaxing day, which is so nice! After two LONG weeks, it is so nice to just sit and watch some tv and relax. After I got home from church and BYC today, I just kinda collapsed on the couch and turned on the tv. Well since there was nothing on tv I turned on a movie. I hadnt watched "There's no Business like Show Business," so I stuck that in the dvd player. It is a great show! It stars Marilyn Monroe and Donald O'Connor and for those of you who have seen Singing in the Rain, Donald O'Connor plays Cosmo in that show, but this movie is so great! It is all about a family that is in show business during the 20's and 30's and Vicky Parker, Marilyn Monroe's character, becomes a love interest of the Tim Donahue, Donald O'Connor's character. It is a really great movie with a lot of great music and dancing! Mitzi Gaynor also plays in this movie as Katie Donahue. She also plays as Nellie Forbush in South Pacific. She is one of my most favorite old time musical stars. She can dance and sing like no other! I just love this movie and I really should watch it more, but as for now, I am going to go finish watching my movie........TOOTLES!!!

Day 86: Classical Music

Today has been a pretty good day. I went to rehearsal then went phone looking and then went to mom's concert. Tonight the Salt Lake Symphony performed at Libby Gardner Hall and it was amazing. They played Mozart’s Symphony No. 41 (“Jupiter”), Elgar’s Empire March, and Respighi’s “The Pines of Rome.” It was fantastic.
The Mozart was fun to listen to and the Elgar was......so so, but the Respighi was AMAZING!!!!! If you have seen Fantasia 2000, The Pines of Rome is actually one of the small videos on there. It is the video with the flying whales. I know the video makes no sense what so ever, but the music is amazing!!!! The ending is the coolest thing I have ever heard. It is like at a quadruple forte and every string is tremeloing and the brass and woodwinds are super blowing and then there is an organ that is sitting on this huge note that vibrates the entire concert hall! If you ever need some good classical music to listen to, I would, without a doubt, recommend this piece. Ya know, I am not one who listen to classical all the time, but when I am in the right mood, I love it. Here are some of my recommendations if you ever need some good classical to listen to.

1. Pines of Rome by Respighi
2. Festival Overture by Shosakovich
3. Symphony No. 5 by Tchaikovsky (We are playing this in UYSO if you want to hear it live, are concert is on April 25th)
4. Romeo and Juliet by Tchaikovsky
5. Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus by Ralph Vaughn Williams (This theme is based on the hymn If You can Hie to Kolob)
6. Messiah by Handel
7. Gloria by Vivaldi
8. Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber
9. Fanfare for the Common Man by Aaron Copland
10. Hoedown by Aaron Copland
11. Planets by Gustav Holst (especially Jupiter and Mars)

I do love classical music and it is soooooo much fun to play! These are just some of my few favorite pieces to listen to and I have played some of them, but I would love to play them all some day before I die! I just love it so much! If you ever need any good classical music to listen to.....just give me a ring or look on the list....I hope you like them.......TOOTLES!!!

Day 85: MY DRESS!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHH.......IT IS FINALLY DONE!!!!!! My dress that I have been working on forever is finally complete!!!!!! It has taken sooooo long and I have worked soooo hard on it that it feels sooooo good to be done!!!!!!! I knew that this dress was going to take a lot of work, but I did not realize how much work it was going to take, but it was totally worth it! I now know why prom dresses and designer clothes cost so much. Not only does the fabric cost an arm and a leg, but the time you spend on one garment is ridiculous! For my dress....I spent a total of 73 hours.......can you believe that.....73 HOURS!!!! That is insanity!!! I also did spend quite a lot but it still ended up being cheaper than a prom dress you would find in a store, but the plus side is that because my teacher is such a strong believer in amazing, flawless work, my dress looks like it could possible be found in a store....well for the most part.
I am just so happy that it is finally done and it is better than I could have ever expected. it fits me perfectly, which is amazing after all the altering I had to do to the pattern. Patterns are usually made for women that are 5' 6" and since I am much taller I had to add at least 4" on all the bodice pieces and at least 5" onto the skirt!
I learned so much from this dress! I learned how to alter patterns, create my own pattern because this is actually a sleeveless dress so I had to make my own sleeve pattern, how to work with satin, how to gather, and so many other things!
I just love how the dress fits, how it looks, how it feels, the color and everything!!!!! I cannot tell you how happy I am that I have it sitting in my closet. Luckily I will get to wear it on orchestra tour and whether I get asked to prom or not....I am wearing my dress that night!!!! Here are some pictures of the entire process!

Altering the pattern pieces
Cutting the fabric
All the pieces cut out
Sewing
Sewing
Unpicking gathering stitches
Measuring the hem line
THE DRESS!!!!!!!!

In the pictures the green looks darker than it really is. It is more of a grassy green....according to the fabric label haha! Also everything but the middle bodice piece is covered in this sparkly organza overlay stuff that gives the dress that extra something! I wanted a dress that was girly but still me and the sparkly organza gave it just that!!!! I am so glad that I am finally done with this dress and I cant wait to get to wear it somewhere!

Day 84: FCCLA State Convention

Okay so that past two days has been a blast!!!!!!! I joined the FCCLA this year even though I wasnt playing on it. Mrs. Nielsen, my clothing teacher, suggested I join since I was making prom dress, so that I could later compete in the FCCLA Star Events, so I did. Well so yesterday we headed up to the Davis Convention Center up in Layton and signed up for a time to compete in our star events. The star event I competed in was Fashion Construction, but there are also a ton of other events like culinary arts, early childhood, focus on children, service stuff and sooooooo much more! Well we got there around 8:30ish and signed up for a time. My time was at 1:45pm and I was the third out of our group to go....there were 5 WJHS girls competing in the Fashion Construction category. Well so we only had one set of judges, so 2pm rolled around and Allie Osborn, who was the first of us to go, still hadnt gone yet. we waited around to present for 6 hours.....6 HOURS!!!! We were a little late to dinner at Roosters because of it, but we still got dinner and AMAZING dessert.
We then headed back for our opening ceremonies, which lasted about 2.5 hours, but we were all so tired and hyper that no one paid any attention.
After we headed back to our rooms and chilled and just hung out and played games and stuff. My room was the cool hang out room....yes, Me and my roommates felt cool!!! I roomed with Janine Crockett and Allie Osborn...two of the funniest, coolest people ever!!!! It was so much fun!
Then this morning we woke up and headed to the awards/closing ceremonies which took forever, but again we had a blast not really paying attention. Luckily all of our WJHS girls got silver medals in our category....rock on! Then after that we loaded up and headed home!!!
I seriously cannot tell you how much fun we had up there these past couple days!!! I have made a few more friends and I have had friendships grow even stronger. I have not laughed so hard in such a long time! I had soooooo much fun and just to let you in on some of the fun, here are some pictures!!!

Allie and Me.......hahaha we got pringles!

Me and allie again......taking strange pictures is just way too fun!
Jen Jansen and her sexy yellow shirt she won from a raffle
Alexis, me, Allie and Aleece.......all my fashion construction girls, but one
I am slightly tall, so I had to find some way to avoid hitting my head on the ceiling while we jumped on the beds ;D
Partying in our room!
Marty busting out his moves!
Marty and Rachel at the Opening Ceremonies
My roomies and two of the cutest girls I know, Janine and Allie and me!

I seriously had sooooo much fun and I am kinda bummed I just found out all about this fun stuff my senior year, but with the great time I have had, it was all worth it!!!!! I love the FCCLA and all the wonderful people and advisers I have met and grown closer too!!!!!! I love the FCCLA!!!!

Day 83: Technically Today

I know I just blogged a few hours ago, but in a few hours for now I will be leaving for FCCLA State Competition, so since today is technically a new day, here is my blog for today! I am extremely tired and I can only hope that God will be on my side tomorrow as I present all that I have been working on. My presentation is no where near ready, but the sucky part is, I have not procrastinated.....I have just literally had NO time, so I have been working on my board and speech all night and my dress for the past two weeks non stop, so we will see how things go in the morning...but as for now, well, I am exhausted and I have a long couple days ahead of me, but I know it will be fun! When I get home thursday, I will post pictures of my dress!!!Well I am off to bed.......TOOTLES!!!!

Day 82: So Close But So Far

On the plus side.......MY DRESS IS DONE!!!!!!! on the down side.......I HAVE SO MUCH LEFT TO DO!!!!!!!!! so i am off.......TOOTLES!!!!!!

Day 80: Harry Potter

So I got home from church today and sat down to watch some tv and what happened to be on but Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Well I hadnt watched that in a long time so I said, what they hey, lets watch it and I am so glad I did! I totally forgot how good Harry Potter is!!!! Well after that Harry Potter, the 5th came on!!!!! I LOVE HARRY POTTER!!!!! The movies are great and the books.......EVEN BETTER!!!! I am thinking I might start reading the books again! But I guess it is a Harry Potter weekend on ABC Family and guess what......they showed a preview of the new movie!!!!! IT LOOKS SOOOOO GOOD!!!!!! Part 1 of the new movie comes out in November and part 2 comes out June of 2011!!!! I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!
These movies are just so great! There is not a badly cast character and for the most part, the movies keep pretty good to the books, well except the 6th one, but even still it is really good!!!
I think Ron is probably one of my favorites. Partly because he is hysterical and partly because he is extremely good looking!!!!!!! He always makes me laugh really hard in the books and the movies!!!! He is just awesome!!!!

The twins are also two of my favorites!!! They are hysterical!!!!
Malfoy is probably one of my most favorite bad guys!!!!! He plays his part extremely well and in the 6th movie.....he was EXTREMELY good looking!!!!!!
The three of these guys just play off each other sooooo well!!!! Emma watson is sooooo gorgeous and the boys are good looking!!!! I am so glad that they will stay together until the end!!!! They are so much fun to watch and they were cast so perfectly!!!
Sirius Black is by far, besides Ron, my most favorite characters in the books and movies!!! Gary Oldman was cast PERFECTLY for this role!!!! He is such a good guy and just rocks!!! I love how is like the father figure but still is the best friend and mentor at the same time!!! It is just the ultimate good guy and is amazing!!!!

Well I am off to finish watching Harry Potter.......TOOTLES!!!!!!

Saturday, March 20, 2010

Day 79: CELLO CASE!!!!!!!

Not much went on today. I was at school from 8-12 today working on my dress.....luckily I got the skirt done and now I just have the lining to fit to the bodice, the sleeves, sewing the dress together, and putting the zipper on. I am slightly freaking out but I think I will get done......I hope I will get it done!!!!
On the other plus side of today........I FINALLY GOT A CELLO CASE!!!! I mean I have always had a case, but it has been a soft case and I have always been worried about my cello in it because it can get dinged up so easy because it is in the soft case, but now I have a beautiful, silver, carbon fiber, blue lined, hard cello case!!!!!!!!!!! I am now part of the cool cello crowd....WOOT WOOT!!!!! The extra great part is that the case was half off and because mom has hook ups, our hook up gave us another 50 bucks off the case!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel so cool.....now I will walk into rehearsals on saturdays and not be the only one without a "cool" case!!!!! It has the nice new case smell and everything!!!!! I also got new cello rosin cuz I ran out of cello rosin and it is fantastic cello rosin!!!! It is just a great cello day today. The only thing I have left to do is get my bow rehaired and then I am good to go!!!!!! Well as for right now, I am going to go watch Friends...........TOOTLES!!!!!

Friday, March 19, 2010

Day 78: FRIDAY!!!!!

IT IS FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!! That is such a miracle right now, however the down side is now that I am not in school for eight hours of my day, I will now be doing work ALL day long tomorrow, I even have to go to school from 8-12pm to work on my dress cuz it still isnt done.....ahhhhhh!!!!! I am soooooo close on it, yet I am soooooo far from being done!!!!! This week has been so hard and sooooo long and it just doesnt feel like it is coming to end until I hit next wednesday when I go to state for FCCLA! Goodness gracious someone just needs to freeze time and then everything would be perfect!!!!
Even though it was a long week, and even a long day, it was still an excellent day. I pretty much did nothing today at school, which stinks cuz I had so more other stuff to do outside of school. But in english I peer edited, in anatomy I drew, in orchestra I taught violinist to play the cello and in my TA class I talked jay and a very cute blonde haired, guitar playing kid! Then I went and worked on my dress for a little while and then had to head down town. Mom, me and Tia Jaynes have to play for this flute concerto concert thing and we had rehearsal today and all I have to say is.....wow. Flute players are some of the most egotistical people I know. I thought violinists were bad, but I think a couple of these flute players take the cake.
Well that has been my day and I think, even though I should go to bed, that I might stick in Friends for a little while and watch that, because I am just in a Friends watching mood today! Well I am off........TOOTLES!!!!

Thursday, March 18, 2010

Day 77: Too Much

This week has literally killing me. Too much to do so here is my blogging for the day....TOOTLES!

Wednesday, March 17, 2010

Day 76: Solo and Ensemble

What a day! First of all Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!!!! It has been a wonderful and everyone looked so lovely in all their green! Well after a pretty good day, 4th period began and Solo and Ensemble began. The Instrumental Solo and Ensemble was held at West Jordan this year and it was crazy. I dont know how it happened but everything was extremely disorganized. Orchestra council got thrown is as a help item and not a planning item, so that didnt go over so well, but even though it was crazy and I was running back and forth and back and forth, I still had a great time!!! I honestly think I probably walked/ran a few miles between the school and the seminary building today, but hey at least I got a work out right?!?! It was all really run though. I got to hang out with my council, west jordan and copper hills council, both today and just have a good time, even though it was crazy sauce!!!
On the other flip side......I MADE IT TO STATE!!!!!!! I was terrified I wasnt going to make it this year cuz on my duet I super screwed up my part and it was just a disaster. As for my solo....well I forgot to copy my music to give to the judge, which usually means you are screwed, but holy crap both of my pieces got a ONE!!! I AM SOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!! I must finish memorizing my piece for state because it has to be memorized, but I have a month to do that. My goal now......get a one at state!!!!! I've gotten a one at state before, but that was for a quartet that I was in my sophomore year, but I WILL get a one this year on my solo if it is the LAST thing I do!!!!!! Well I am exhausted so I am going to head to bed.......TOOTLES!!!!!

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Day 75: Blah

Not much to write about today. I feel pretty crappy and my day reflects how I feel. I spent forever on my dress today and pretty much got nothing done....BUMMER! It will seriously be a freaking miracle if I can get this dress done on time, but only time will tell. Not much to report on today though. I wrote a childrens book about a class of flies that goes on a feild trip through the digestive system......dont ya love anatomy projects!?!?!?! As for now I am going to go work on arranging some stuff for a friends for his madrigal audition. It worked this morning I just hope I remember everything to write it down now! I am out.......TOOTLES!!!!

Monday, March 15, 2010

Day 74: Thing I Found Out Today

Dont have much time to blog today, but I needed a break for a minute so I thought I would make a quick list of the things I found out today:

1. It sucks waking up at 4:20am after day light savings has just occurred

2. If I am in "that" kind of mood, I can be given all the time in the world and nothing will be accomplished.
3. My friends are hysterical
4. Everything seems to like to pile up all at once
5. I love blonde haired guitarist who can play John Mayer.....I melt slightly inside ;D
6. Hormones make people confusing
7. My dress that I am making is killing me slowly
8. Netting does not come in all colors (which is lame......what if you need a certain color for a certain dress?!?!?!?!)
9. Mozart is hard, easy and fun to play
10. I thoroughly enjoy blogging!!!!!

There is the top 10 of my day........I am off to do more homework.........TOOTLES!!!!

Sunday, March 14, 2010

Day 73: Cold and Cake

So today I woke up and I was sick......WHAT THE CHICKEN AND RICE?!?!?!?! I am not suppose to be sick, I have region solo and ensemble this week and I have to finish my dress. There is no time for me to be sick......what was my body thinking?!?!?!?!?! All I have to say is.....I am not a fan!
As for today though, I went to church and had a great young womens lesson. Then I came home and later had a family party and some dinner and cake and ice cream!!! I love our family parties, we always have a good time when we get together. I got a shirt and some money so that was extra awesome too, but I have to say the thing that made my night was the Schmidt's Bakery cake......OH MY GOODNESS.....That is heavenly cake!!! It is a super moist cake with amazing filling, covered in ultra thick, amazing butter cream frosting and topped with huge pure-butter cream frosting flowers.......AMAZING!!!!!! This year I had chocolate cake with raspberry filling, chocolate frosting, and of course, purple flowers!!!! It tasted wonderful!!!! The other thing I love from there is their mint chocolate cookies. It is two chocolate cookie things with mint frosting stuff sandwiched in between. All I have to say is.......DELICIOUS!!!!
Well I have got to go finish up some english homework............TOOTLES!!!!

Saturday, March 13, 2010

Day 72: Good Day

Today I started my day out by going to our young mens basketball championship game, which sadly they lost, however they did play a heck of a game!!!! After that I took Jeff for a hair cut, then I came home and ate lunch. After I FINALLY went and got my hair cut.....PRAISE THE LORD ALMIGHTY!!!! I didnt get anything new done to it, I just got it trimmed and the layers put back into it. My hair stylist has been on maternity leave for like ten weeks, so I havent gotten my hair cut for eleven weeks, which is insane cuz I usually go and get it cut every eight weeks, so needless to say my hair needed a good cutting.
Then after all that I hung out with my friend Lauren and we hit the craft stores cuz I needed to find some stuff and then after that we headed over to my Kaitlyn's house for a game night! I guess her manager likes to have these random game nights, so we went over and played with her manager and his wife and one of her co-workers. It was so fun!!!! I had a blast, but as for now I am going to be.......TOOTLES!!!!

Day 71: Fun Day

Today has been a pretty good day! It was kind of a long one, and I was tired so that didnt help, but it was still a good one! ok so here is the freak out moment for the day........I GOT MY GRADUATION STUFF TODAY!!!!! I now have everything but my cap and gown.........FREAKY!!!!! Besides that I got my bodice on my dress done today!!!!!! I also got the skirt lining sewed up and I created a sleeve pattern for my dress!!!!!! All I have to do is make the sleeve and sew the netting onto the skirt, then I have all the pieces then I just have to stick it all together!!!!! I can not begin to tell you how happy that makes me!
Well after working on my dress, I went to go pick up my friend Paige to go shopping because she needed to find a business type look, well we failed with that. There is no business attire to be found anywhere, but here is the mall highlight of the day. This lady comes up to me and says "Have you ever thought of modeling?" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.......Me and paige just both looked at each other and were like "no." So she goes on to tell us how we should sign up with her and blah blah blah and she would be giving us a call.......IT WAS THE FUNNIES THING EVER!!!!
Well after failing at real shopping we needed a pick-me-up, so we went to bridal expressions and tried on prom dresses for fun. I tried on this really pretty black, sequence, poofy dress. LOVED IT!!!!
Well now I am off to hang out with Kathryn and Heidi so I better go......TOOTLES

Thursday, March 11, 2010

Day 70: 18 Years Old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOOT WOOT.......I am offically now an adult as of today!!!!! Whether that is a good thing or not....well i'm not exactly sure but that is ok, I am excited to see what this next year of my life has to bring!!!!!!
Today has been pretty fantastic!!! I looked pretty darn cute today, at least I thought so ;D, and I went to school and had a great day, really the only bad part about school today was that, in anatomy, we had to watch a movie on a live dissection of the digestive system.....yeah I could have gone without that today, but everything else was good! My friends got me presents and my two friends who have graduated, Kathryn and Heidi, came and visited during orchestra today, which was so great!!!!! I miss them super super lots!!!!!!!!
Then after school I came home for a little while and chilled, then I headed out to Riverton High School to watch Jeff play in his Jazz Band Region Festival, which he did great in. Then after that I rushed him to his church ball game, which we luckily made it to with 3 minutes to spare!!!!!! Well with the 3 minutes that I watched the boys did awesome and I heard it was a great game as well, and luckily enough.....OUR BOYS WON!!!!!! Than means that our boys are heading to the championship on saturday and I think they can totally kick butt, they just have to take down a couple of big guys ;D
Well there is the way I spent my big 18th birthday and I have to say it was a great day!!!!!! I would also like to thank everyone for all the birthday wishes and presents too......THEY WERE ALL SO FABULOUS!!!!!! I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!!

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

Day 69: Fabulous Day

Today has just been one fantastic, great day for no apparent reason! I woke up and everything was normal, but everyone was just in a good mood today, which put me in a good mood and it was just great!!! I got my dress bodice ALMOST done today, all I have left to do is just sew up two sides and then sew the back sides to the front and wa-la.....I will have a bodice!
Besides that I got a huge hug from one of my guy friends today that just totally made my day! I love hugs! Then later I met up with mom and did a little shopping for her at the Dressbarn. Then after that I decided that since it is my birthday tomorrow and everyone is giving me money to chip in for a laptop for graduation, I wanted to get me a present so I went and bought me this way cute floral top!!!! LOVE IT!!!!
But after that I came home for a little while and then headed to mutual....which was way fun!!! We had a combined young womens and young mens activity tonight and we went rock climbing!!! I had never been rock climbing and it was super fun! The first run I did was fun and fairly, not super, but fairly easy, then I attempted a second run......HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Yeah i failed miserably. On the plus side I got to the top, but getting there was horrid!!! I understood that I needed to use my legs, but i couldnt get a good grip with my feet to boost me up, so I did a lot of climbing with my arms, which I knew wasnt right, but I didnt know what else to do.......MY LEGS WOULDNT WORK!!! I am using the excuse that I am an instrumentalist and guess what.....we dont use are legs.....hahaha we are all arms!!! Well I think I am headed off to bed, so then I can wake up and be 18!!!!! Actually I am a geek, ever since I was little I would set my clock at 3:05am and watch myself turn a year older at 3:07am it will be no different tonight, so I am headed off to bed......TOOTLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Day 68: Oh My Dress

So nothing much went on today. I participated in a discussion in english, learned about the digestive system, played some cello and worked on my dress.......oh my dress! I knew this dress was going to be tough, but now it is just getting ridiculous. I finally finished the front part of the bodice today and started on my back part of the bodice. Well everything was going well, but then I got to the mid-bodice back overlay...........AND IT WAS TOO SHORT WIDTH WISE!!!!!!! I figured this all out on my mock bodice.......WHY IS IT NOT WORKING?!?!?!?! Goodness gracious...I am getting slightly frustrated. Once I get past the bodice, I really think this dress is going to fly, but it is just getting done with this bodice that is killing me, but on the plus side, I am liking it so far. I only hope that it is going to fit right and look good, or I am going to be one ticked off little sewing girl! I will be working on it everyday after school for the rest of this week and next because state competition for FCCLA is on the 24th......AHHHHH slight panic, but it will be done, it is just a matter of getting it done right now!!! Well I am off to chill for a little while....TOOTLES!!!

Day 67: The Best and Worst of the Oscars

So I promised, back when the Grammys were going on, that I would do a worst and best dress list for the 82nd Academy Awards, so I would now like to present Kristen's Worst and Best Dress List of the 82nd Annual Academy Awards!!!!

Worst Dress List:

I love Diane Kruger but I do not know what she was thinking with this Chanel Gown. I love Chanel but this dress is just......weird. Black and tan with sophisticated lines and ruffles, I give her a C+
Virgina Madsen usually looks pretty good, but she missed mark with this blue and black sheer sheer gown. I like the over all style, but the colors and the sheer was just a bad idea. I give her a C-
Oh man....Faith Hill missed the mark on this one...BIG TIME!!! The black lace is a good pretty but the way it was done in the bodice and then paired with the tights was a bad idea. Sadly no one had a lot of faith in this gown and for that I give it a D-
I love Tina Fey, but this dress did not do it for me. I do not think the polka dot effects is flattering at all and again, what is with the black over the tan fabric.....gross gross gross! I give this a C-
I do not know what Zoe Saldana was going for but I think she missed the mark completely. The sparkles were a good idea and the purple color was pretty but putting them together with ruffles earns her a big fat F!

Best Dress List:

Anna Kendrick made an awesome pick with this gown. I dont really like nude color on amyone, however with her dark hair she can pull it off. I love the slit up the leg with lace and the off the shoulder sleeve. I give this dress an A-!
I LOVE THIS GOWN!!!! I love the way the gown is cut and the way it flows. Rachel McAdams looks amazing and everything about this look works! She is amazing and looks amazing! I give this dress an A+
I am not a huge fan of Kristen Stewart, however I think this dress is amazing and she actually looks pretty good in it. I think it was a good choice to go with the black and the cut and the pleating of the dress works really well! I give this look an A-
Penelope Cruz looks excellent in this dress! The color on her looks fabulous and the flow and slight asymmetrical shaping looks really good! I only wish that the middle section didnt have quite so much fabric in the bunching, but I still think this is fabulous! I give this look a A-
Sandra Bullock looked fabulous last night! This gown was not one of my favorites but i still think she looked good. I liked the style of this gown, however I wished that the color of the gown had been a rich plum or a dark red, but I will take what I can get! I give this look a A-

Over all I wasnt overly impressed with all the gowns this year, but there were some extremely fabulous gowns! Not only did the women look great but the men also looked amazing in their suits and tuxes! This years Oscars were great and I cant wait until next year! Hope you enjoyed todays issue of Kristen's Worst and Best Dress List.....TOOTLES!!!!

Day 66: Sunday

Not much went on today. I went to stake conference which was pretty good. There were some pretty good talks! I also went out to my Grandma Steiner's house for my birthday dinner with my dad's side of the family! We had a roast, mashed potatoes, amazing fruit salad and heavenly tasting rolls! It all tasted soooo good! I also got some money and a big candy bar poster! I just love my family, they are so good to me. I am still slightly freaking out that I am turning 18 on THURSDAY!!! That is so awesome and my family is so great to me too! Tonight was just a fun time talking and spending time with my family. In between dinner and stuff me and my siblings went into the back room and played Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader on my grandma's Wii.....yes, my grandma has a Wii, she rocks!!! It was soooo much fun! I love hanging with my family. Well as for now I think I am going to go watch me some Academy Awards.......TOOTLES!!!

Day 65: Love You Woof

So today has been a bit of a bitter sweet day. So my little dog, Trivil, has gotten really old and he was starting to have a really hard time getting around because of his arthritis and when we took him in for a check up yesterday the doctor said that it looked like that his abdominal organs were swollen, either that or he had a tumor. He wasnt, or at least didnt seem uncomfortable at all but he was just getting old and couldnt really do anything. Well today he did pass away. We werent expecting it to be so soon, which really sucks, but on the other hand it is good because he was getting so old that I dont think he was very happy.
I am going to miss my little woof. Sometimes he could be a little pill but I still love him. I have grown up with him my whole life and I dont know what it is like not to have him around. We rescued him from the pound when we lived in Wyoming when I was about 4 years old or so. He was such a good little dog. I loved hearing his collar jingle around when he walked or hearing him bark whenever the door rang. I also loved snuggling with him or having him come up and lick me when I wasnt feeling good. I loved how he would come wake me up by licking me too death in the morning or nudging my hand with his nose when he wanted his ears scratched. I love my little woof and it will be weird having him gone. LOVE YOU WOOF!

We have been friends since 5th grade......well kind of. We actually hated each other on and off through 5th and 6th grade, but once middle school hit, we became best friends. We havent hung out with each other for so long that we are doing the ultimate girls night.......pj's, ice cream(the good kind), chick flicks and lots of talking.......what could be better!?!?!?! I seriously do not know what I would do with out Kenz though! She has been there all my life and I love her too death! We are a lot a like and we know each other WAY too well! We always have so much fun together too!!! I love her too death and I dont know what I would ever do without her.....but as for now, I am off to go party........TOOTLES!!!

Day 63: Long Day

Today can be summed up in 5 simple words.........Its been a long day!!!! My brain is so fried. We learned 4 voice writing today in Ap theory and that just about killed me hahaha! Who knew there were so many rules just to writing music. I can never ever look at a hymn the same way again! Well as for now I am going to go study the endocrine system for my anatomy test that is tomorrow..........super exciting......i know! TOOTLES!!!

Day 62: Guys and Young Womens

So today has actually been a pretty good day. I havent had a super good day in a while and finally today was a pretty good day! I did not sleep very good last night, so I have been tired all day, but luckily I have been in the "I am so tired, I am hyper" mood. It has just been a good day! Nothing really happened today, although apparently it was pick on kristen day. Today in 4th, well the end of 3rd and into 4th, some of my guy friends found out how EXTREMELY ticklish I am......yeah that did not go over well. At one point I had my friend Reg holding my feet, my friend Hayden and Jay holding my hands and my friend alex tickling me......man boys are freakishly strong! Then after that, the tickling continued at random times and then Alex stole my shoes.....what a crazy day! But I must say I love my guy friends.....I dont know what I would do without them! Dont get me wrong, I love my girl friends, however sometimes I just need no drama and a good time and some fun stress-less people to hang with or talk to! I just love them too death. My friend Alex is like a brother to me and Reg.........is well....Reg, we all know the story there hahaha! They are just great....I LOVE THEM TOO DEATH!
Well besides that, today I wrote in my journal, which was great, and I went to young womens where I always have a great time! Tonight we made scrapbook pages and wrote letters to put in a time capsule. I'll be honest....it slightly freaked me out. I turn 18 in 8 days.........8 DAYS, and tonight just made me realized that ten years is not that far off and between now and then.....heaven only knows what could happen! I'll be in school, or maybe even done with school, I could be married and have kids or at least have one on the way. I could have an incredible job and live somewhere else and everything!!!! It is all freaking me out.......but as for now I am going to go chill for a while and go to bed.......TOOTLES!!!!

Day 61: Musicals

So pretty much nothing exciting went on today.....absolutely nothing. Then I got home and did the little homework I had, which was pretty nice. Well then I sat down to watch tv and guess what was on.........Seven Brides for Seven Brothers...one of the greatest musicals of all time!!!!! It is such a fun show and the dancing and the music in it is AMAZING!!!!! So after getting a kick out of watching that show, West Side Story came on!!!!!! I mean seriously......what a great musical day! I mean West Side Story is not the greatest musical ever, but I really do like it. The dancing it is fantastic and the music.......AMAZING!!!!! Leonard Bernstein is a musical genius!!! For those of you who dont know anything about West Side Story, all it is, is just a modern day telling of Romeo and Juliet but it is set in New York in the 1960's with gangs instead of families. It is a great show!
I just love musicals!! Some of my favorites are:
1. Hello Dolly
2. My Fair Lady
3. Moulin Rouge
4. Singing in the Rain
5. There is no Business like Show Business
6. South Pacific
7. Thoroughly Modern Millie
8. White Christmas
And there are soooooooooo many more!!!! I just love musicals. All the music and the dancing and the genius-ness of all of it!!!!! They are so much fun to watch and they are also a ton of fun to be in them on stage and down in the orchestra pit!!!! I just love them! Well as for now.....I am going to go finish watching West Side Story........TOOTLES!!!!!!

Day 60: Abravanel Hall

So today I woke up and went to early morning rehearsal and went to 1st and 2nd period and then I got to check out of school!!! I got to go down town today to play in my last youth symphony invitational at Abravanel Hall. Every year Abravanel Hall holds a festival where youth symphonies from all over the state get to come and show case what they are and what they have been working on. The morning session is all the middle school or junior symphonies and the afternoon is all the high school or senior symphonies, so luckily I did not have to be down town until 12:30pm.
So I got down there at 12:30 and me and all my Utah Youth peeps just kinda chilled until we could get into the hall. The downer to this whole thing was that we sat in the audience for three and a half hours and then went up to the green room to warm up for a half hour and then played for fifteen minutes.....the whole thing was rather anticlimactic, but that was ok, partly because I got all my Ap Music Theory homework done and also because I love playing on that stage!

I mean look at that stage......what is not to love about it! The building itself is just amazing!!!! I mean how many people can say that have played on that beautiful stage once, let alone 8 or 9 times! I have been so lucky to be able to play on that stage and even more lucky to play with amazing people on that stage. I have been able to play with the Utah symphony itself, which was amazing and from that experience alone I learned a ton! I have loved playing with all the youth that I have grown up with and had so many fun times with!
Ya know........when you are in sports you create a certain team bond that nothing can break and it is exactly that same way on a stage. Just like in any sport, as musicians, we depend on each other and we put so much trust in each other and we learn to love each other! Regardless of what a lot of people think, we are not just a group on the stage, we really are a family and I am so blessed to have had the chance to get to know some amazing people! I cannot wait to see what music and symphonies have in store for me!!!!!!!!
