New Project and Thanking Those That Get You There

Alright! Sorry it has been a while, but I am back and I have a new project on hand......the violin!

I know your probably thinking, "You play the cello, why in the world would you want to play the violin?" (haha I love you all you violin players ;D) Well here is the scoop. For the fall I am assisting/teaching elementary orchestra! I am so excited!!!

Learning the violin has been interesting. Its similar to the cello yet still very different so it has been interesting.....the high pitchness of it all is not so fun, but it is fun to be learning something new. Haha in all honestly I feel like the mini me version of my mom between teaching orchestra and playing the violin, which is not a bad thing at all!

As for the assisting/teaching job, its not an intensely paying job, or very many hours, but it is a little extra cash and the reward of actually teaching kids orchestra is beyond fabulous! I learned so much from all of my orchestra teachers and peers in the past, that I thought it would be so cool to be able to be an example to kids and show them how amazing orchestra really is!

Looking back at it, I really didn't have very many teachers, but they all taught me something incredibly valuable! Leota Foote and Brei Bunker, were incredible piano teachers! Leota was my first music teacher, so really, without her, I wouldn't have ever done music! Brei helped further the piano knowledge and helped me learn tons.

As for cello teachers, I started out with Eric who taught me the basics and that I am grateful for him. After Eric I switched to Peg Soon who was my cello teacher for many years! She taught me sooooo much! There would be no way I would be the cellist I am today without her!

As for orchestra teachers. First came Ms. Flygare. That woman taught me lots and put up with me for 3 long years! Then there was my mom!!!! In all reality....what didnt she teach me?!

I know that that is only a few of my teachers, but I am so thankful for all of them, cuz without them there would be no way I would be where I am today musically and in so many other aspects as well!

I challenge everyone to think about all the great teachers they have had in the past and what they have done for you and taught you, whether it was a sunday school teacher, a music teacher, or a english teacher.....who ever they are, think and thank them!

Holy chicken and rice.......I am DONE with freshman year. I honestly can't believe it....I am done! And what a year it has been. I have loved every minute it of even though I have cried more, stressed more and learned more then in my entire life. Freshman year has been the most scariest, but exciting time of my life so far. I couldn't have asked for a better year!!! I have lived with and next to the most amazing people ever. I have made so many great friends and gained so much! Here is my list of things learned.

Things learned Freshman year:
1. How to do laundry
2. How to grocery shop smart
3. How to make friends
4. How to study better
5. How important church and my standards really are
6. How important it is to just be myself
7. Accept others for who they are
8. Try new things....you may find something you weren't expecting
9. Step out of your box
10. Live life to its fullest

It really has been the greatest ride of my life!!!!!! I have grown so much spiritually, mentally, physically, and emotionally. I have met so many great people!!!! I know that God has a plan for me and I don't know what it is, but I know he has a plan and puts me where I need to be, when I need to be there. I really cant even tell you what this last year has meant to me. There is so much to tell, but just not enough time. I am so sad to be gone and not live with everyone still, but I know that this is what the next 4 years will be like. I am excited, however, for this summer and for the next year to come. Already we are making new friends here in Maple View and I think it is going to be a fabulous summer! Well I better go to bed cause I am exhausted.....TOOTLES!!!!!!

Study Party!!!!!

It's FINALS WEEK!!!!!! Well ok it's almost the end of finals week, but finals are here. Luckily I only have one final this semester which is my Econ Final at 7:30am on Friday, which kinda sucks. However it has been nice to have all week to study.

Anyways, so after our Morgan Hall pizza party last night, some of us decided that a study party was totally called for. So some of us gathered our notes, laptops, and books headed out into the hall for a little study party!

We had some study stats, some studying physics, Chelsea studying women and gender studies and me studying Econ. It was a blast. I loved how Townsen put it last night. "See this way I study and get my social fix for the day.....it's a win win situation!" I could not agree more with him because I have found I need my people fix for the day haha.

Here is Emily, Townsen, and Fang Studying for physics!

Here is Chelsea jammin' out to her music while studying for women and gender studies and Cherice in the background studying for her stats final!

And here is my Econ study stuff......We had a party what can I say!

Alright, well.....so studying can only go so far before we all start to go crazy, especially since a lot of us have been studying all week for many hours. Well so Townsen and Fang, while studying physics, brought up the whole telephone with a string and two cups attached on the end, so......we decided to try it!!!! Surprisingly it was rather successful! It wasnt a clear connection, however you could mostly understand what the person on the other end was say haha!

Here is maren, Lacey, and Austin listening into the cup in our apartment!

This is Townsen speaking into it to communicate to Fang on the other end. The cool part is that you can see Fang in the mirror behind Townsen....we thought that was rather clever!

Here is Fang listening to Townsen on the other end!

This is Skyler, Townsen and Chelsea (she is flossing her teeth on the telephone haha)

Then here is the length of the string. We stood at the end of our room and then the room across the hall for maximum phone length! It was fabulous!

So yes.....there you have it. This is what we do to keep ourselves sane during finals week. I am really going to miss this. I can't believe it is all over practically tomorrow. It is super depressing, however we are not dwelling on this fact right now, we are partying it up while we can! Well I am off to study some more before I study with my good friend and the cute boy tonight.....TOOTLES!!!!!!
